Tesla's presence in Australia has reached a significant milestone with 100,000 of its electric vehicles now on the country's roads, nearly half of which were delivered in the past year.
Tesla celebrated reaching "100k Tesla vehicles on the road in Australia" via social media, marking over nine years since their initial local delivery in July 2010. The surge in Tesla ownership is highlighted by the delivery of approximately 53,000 vehicles from the beginning of 2023 to February 2024, with around 46,000 of these deliveries occurring last year alone.
The sales figures are dominated by around 40,000 Model Y mid-size SUVs and 46,000 Model 3 mid-size sedans, with the remaining sales comprising Model S large sedans, Model X large SUVs, and Roadster sports cars. This growth in Tesla's Australian market presence is noteworthy as the company plans to discontinue sharing its monthly sales figures with the VFACTS reports of the car industry starting in July. This decision follows Tesla's exit from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) in Australia.
The future of how Tesla will report its monthly sales figures remains uncertain.
